Sky Creator Appreciation 2025

At the end of 2025, I opened submissions for members of the Sky community to leave kind notes for creators who made their year special. Big or small, beginner or experienced, every creator below was submitted because their work connected with someone last year. And for that, they deserve a very special thank you.

And so we finally approach the bottom of the archive...

Before I begin my usual sappy speech about what creativity means to me and why I love this project, I felt it important to address something that I’m usually pretty vague about. You may have noticed that this edition of Sky Creator Appreciation is a teeny (*cough*, very) bit late, and there’s a few good reasons for that.

It's not something I like to bring up a lot, but some of you may be aware I have some health conditions that tossed a lot of planned projects into the air last year. Normally I begin work on SCA in December while submissions are still ongoing, building the structure and making all the assets so it’s all ready for January when I input everything from the form. But this last December I had a kind of scary development with one of those conditions that took a lot out of me, and it threw a huge wrench in my grand end-of-the-year plans. Part of me wanted to push through it and rush to get everything out by January, but I knew I wouldn't have been happy with the result if I did. This project is a vessel of love for creativity, from you all and from me, and just as you submitted your sincerest and most heartfelt thoughts I, too, wanted my contribution to feel genuine rather than an obligation.

I’ve made a couple throwaway jokes in the past about my crazy health but, as you can probably tell, 2025 was genuinely a difficult year for me.I spent more of it than I would have liked to in the emergency room and other hospital visits for treatments, so with all the time spent on recovery I felt like I wasn’t able to push myself as much as I wanted to creatively. If not for the amazing community and friendships I’ve found through Sky over the years, I probably would’ve called it a terrible year. But honestly, I really loved 2025.There were so many fun surprises, amazing experiences, and incredible opportunities last year that I honestly never would have imagined I’d be part of. It was also a year full of personal and creative growth, like using my voice in a few videos and trying out some new video styles. It was being able to create, to share my ideas with others and share in what others were creating, that kept me going through everything.I still vividly remember going home late from a long ER visit last summer and turning on my phone to an email about my acceptance into Sky Creator Troupe. And man, I wish I could say I had a funnier or crazier reaction but honestly I felt so dazed for a good few hours and then I went to bed. It only really hit me the next day that, like, oh...I’m kind of representing the game...with everything I make...from now on...And that’s scary! It’s awesome, and a HUGE honor to make stuff for you all with support from the wonderful people at TGC, but oh my gosh is it scary…

See, when I started playing this game all the way back in 2020, I was incredibly isolated. Not just because of the pandemic, but also because I felt trapped in a hopeless situation with my health. Chronic illness made it hard to move, hard to find the energy for any of the things I liked doing, and hard to connect with people. I lost touch with a lot of my interests in that time, and those of you with creative hobbies/professions will understand when I say it feels like losing a huge part of your identity.Finding Sky was like a lifeline.I instantly fell in love with the visuals, the story, and the people I met while wandering around, and it pushed me to start looking for more. When I began to join community servers on Discord, I found people I connected well with and slowly started becoming better at socializing (I, um...still have a long way to go though). And then, of course, I got really into making memes and short little videos to post in those servers. I eventually began to post those things on Youtube for, like, maybe five people.

When I tell you I never in a million, billion years would have thought I’d be where I am today when I started posting those, I mean it. My early videos were super weird, super experimental, and I knew next to nothing about editing other than what I personally found funny. But people seemed to like them, and they seemed to like me, and it turned from a place to dump random videos into a real creative outlet. Slowly, I was able to rekindle and incorporate my long-forgotten loves: storytelling, crafts and sewing, design, and even drawing. Some days I’m still in that headspace where this is “just making weird videos online for like five people”, so I still get jumpscared when I see my subscriber count go up or when someone somehow recognizes me in-game or something (if I’ve ever run away from you in the game I’m...so sorry…).But any time I see a comment saying my video made someone’s day, or made them laugh, or that they look forward to when I post, it really hits me that my weird hobby connected with someone in the world. Something I thought was silly or total nonsense had a real impact on someone.

All that backstory is just to say that, on a deeper level, many of the things I value most in the Sky community are centered around those experiences. I never would have had the confidence to start sharing my creations if not for the amazing people I’ve met on this journey who encouraged me to do so, as well as all the creatives who posted things that inspired me. And it’s now, in my sixth year of playing and making content in Sky, that I happily continue to pay it forward. And so, to everyone visiting this page: Thank you for joining me!Whether you’re listed on this page or not, big creator or small, experienced or inexperienced, or just here in support of creativity, I sincerely hope viewing this page has brought you the same amount of joy as I had making it. You are what makes Sky special, and you are what makes me proud to be part of this community. If you already post your creations, please continue to share your bright ideas for those who will find comfort and meaning in them. And if you’re someone who’s still looking for the confidence to put yourself out there, who may believe there’s no audience for what you create, let me be the first to encourage you! Just as each of the creators above spoke to someone with their work, you too have someone out there who’s dying to see what you’ll put out into the world.

Submissions for TGC's Sky Creator Awards are opening on the first of March this year, and I highly encourage you all to check it out if you can. Not only as a creator, but as a fan with voting power as well. Nominations appear to be based on votes and post engagement this time, so creators will need your help and support now more than ever to be recognized for their contributions. I’ll be doing my best to boost as many creations as I can next month until voting closes, and I sincerely hope you will join me!But finally, thank you all again for supporting this project in its third year!To everyone who submitted a message: you truly helped this project shine, and I hope I was able to capture how special and important each of your notes are in this showcase. I have such a blast putting these together, and reading the cute messages as they come in always puts a smile on my face. And to you, reading this: I hope you have an amazing 2026 full of love and inspiration. Maybe…just maybe…you’ll meet a new favorite creator this year, and I’ll get to hear alllllll about them in December ;3
